NELSON.

Two important cases under the Nelson Scab Act have recently been decided in the Resident Magistrate's Court. The first was against Thomas "Whitwell, master of the Lyttelton, who was charged with landing 278 sheep in the Waimea, in contravention of the Act. Defendant was fined £20, and costs. The second case was against Hugh Stafford, the owner of the sheep. The offence was proved, and the defendant fined £68 155., and coata.
