" ROUTE FROM VICTORIA TO THS LAKE GOLDFIELDS. The shortest route is vii InvercargiU, which is at least one day nearer Victoria than Dunedin. The steamers Gothenburg, Aldinga, and Alhanibra call regularly at the Bluff, which is distant from town 20 miles. From InvercargiU the North Hoad is followed, beginning at Deestreet. About four' and a half miles from town the road turns to the left, and from thence to the foot of the Lake ' the main line of road should be kept. ~By this route the distance is only 92 miles from InvercargiU, the road perfectly level, and there are accommodation house, all the way.
