His sire, Clydesdale Tom, in 1859, at the Lanarkshire Farmers' Society's Show of entires, held at Hamilton, gained the first prize of £40. Lofty, in 1861, at Avondale Farmers' Society's Show, gained the first prize in the one-year olds. In 1862, at the same show, he gained the first prize in the two-year olds, and also fche prize for the best of the horse kind. He likewise gained the first at the Lanarkshire Society's Show, afc Hamilton, and second prize at the Glasgow Agricultural Society's Show, in the two year olds.
