««► By the Albion and Phoebe we have later Northern file 9. The Dunedin Daily Times of 9th inst., reports as follows : — " Business continues on a more extended scale, buyers showing more disposition to operate in rome of our leading staples. Flour. — The Melbourne advices to hand this morning, per G-othenburg, indicating an advance in that market to £27 for Adelaide, has induced holders here to raise their prices. We now quote Adelaide at £31 to £32, and Chilian at £26 to £27 ; about 100 tons of the Chilian shipment, per J. Rosa Alcaraz, have been placed to-day at a price equal to £26 net cash. Sugar. — The advance in Melbourne in this article is likely also to have a corresponding influence here shortly ; meantime buyers show no disposition to operate beyond immediate wauts. The Mauritius advices to sth. August, received this morning, indicate not only another short crop, but also a very late one, and in consequence a continuance of last season's prices is anticipated. Tobacco. — The large business done lately in this article at auction and otherwise has for the present filled the hands of dealers, and sales are with difficulty made, except at very low prices ; but the decided upward tendency which lias begun again to manifest itself in Melbourne and Sydney may bye and bye lead to an improvement here. At Messrs. A. G\ Fisher and Co's clearing sale of Messrs. Joske's stock of wines and spirits, the attendance of buyers was only moderate ; still nearly the whole was cleared off at prices which in some instances may be considered fair, but low as a rule. The following are a few of the lines sold : — Smith, Johnson, and Co's port wine, in case, 295. ; "Reynault's champagne, 375. ; Vautrin's do., 755. ; Hennessey's pale brandy, 9s. ; dark do., Bs. lOd. ; Imperial dark brandy, 2s. fid. ; Renault's case brandy, 15s. 6d. ; Charente, case, ss. ; Guiness's stout, 103. 9d. ; Bass's triangle ale, lls. 2d. ; Pierre's absynthe, 265. 6d. ; Irish whisky, Is. lOd. per gal. ; Planet's dark brandy, 2s. 6d. ; Saucel whsiky, 3s. 3d."
