The stock of flour and wheat combined on hand July 1, 1864, is equal to 154,600 sacks of wheat, against 155,000 sacks the corresponding period of 1863. During the past week we have had a moderate demand for both flour and wheat, for export to Auckland, N.Z., say to the extent of 12,000 halfaacks flour, and 4,000 sacks wheat, and possibly a few small parcels to other ports. This rather unexpected demand had the effect to advance prices very materially, a3 will be Been by reference to details below. Our local demand for flour, and that shipment into the interior of the state, is i now, and has been for three months past, unusually small : the country demand being supplied by mills at Folsoin and at other points. The following is an estimate of the available stocks of flour and grain remaining on hand in this city on the Ist day of July in each of the years named : — Flour Wheat Barley Oats bis. sks. sks. sks. 1860 . 30,765 38.721 36,997 2,000 1861 13,316 3,003 13,303 19,251 1562 12,500 30,000 35,000 12,500 1863 35,000 50,000 15,000 1,506 1864 16,700 104,500 56,400 32,600 The receipts of barley from the new crop are daily increasing. The quality is not choice, or rather it is not well cleaned. The straw being very short, the grain was necessarily cut nearer to the ground tixSLTx usual, couseguentlv -we ixo.ve a. I full crop of " Adobe " — clay — n-hic-h has a dopressing effect upon the market value thereof. At the close the market for this cereal is dull, and prices on the decline. Our barley receipts for the three last harvest years were as follow : — Sacks. Year ending June 30, 1862 611,227 Year ending Juno 30, 1863 432,203 Year ending Juno 30, 1864 611,143 This exhibit gives an excess of receipts last season over that of the previous one of 178,940 sacks, and about equal to that of the harvest of 1861. Our exports for same period were : — Sacks. Year ending June 30, 1862 132, £ 85 Year ending June 32, 1863 30,424 Year ending June 30, 1864 ... 40,270 The result shows an increase of exports the present season of 9,846 sacks, as compared with the previous year. Our present stock of bailey in store is 56,400 sacks. The present demand for oats is less than the supply ; prices consequently are drooping. At the moment there is no export movement in either barley or oats. Our receipts of oats for the three last harvest years were as follows : — Sacks. Year ending June 30, 1862 351,633 Year ending June 30, 1863 177,005 Year ending June 30, 1864 304,044 Thi3 exhibit gives an excess of 126,938 sacks over the previous harvest.
