Public Notices. NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION, 1865. ; Ofßces of the jjocal Committee, Province of Southland. TjEGULATIONS of the Local Committee for JA» the reception of goods intended to be exhibited:-—' I. The Local Committeeshall decide which articles,' that may. be forwarded by intending exhibitorSj shall be cent, to the Exhibition. . 21 With respect to ' those articles which the Committee decline to «end^ such articles may. bo sent under the auspices of the Committee, but at the risk and expense of the exhibitor. 3. Subject to the necessary limitation of space, all persons, whether designers, inventors, manufacturers, producers, or possessors of articles of Ncw^Zealand origin, or of such others, the produce of other countries, as may in the estimation of the B commiltee be eminently calculated to illustrate or aid in the development of the resources of the Province, will be allowed to exhibit ; in each case they must state in what character they exhibit. 4. Exhibitors must be at the charge of insuring their own goods, should they require this security, as the committee will not be responsible for losses or damage of any kind; but it #fll take every reasonable care of the articles confided to its charge. 5. Every article sent separately, and every package must be legibly marked with the name of the country or colony of which it is the produce or manufacture, and, as far as practicable, with the name of the exhibitor or exhibitors. 6. The following is the form of address which should be adopted : To the Commissioners of New Zealand Exhibition, 1565. Building, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. From [state eo\mtry and exhibitor's name.] 7. To prevent loss, miscarriage, or mislaying articles, or packing cases containing them, which occupy less bulk than two cubic feet, such article. &.C., should not be sent separately, if it can be avoided ; but packages under such size, containing as i'ar as possible tbe same classes of articles, should be transmitted in combination. 8. Articles once deposited in the Exhibition Building, will not be permitted to be removed without written permission from the Commissioners. 9. Articles intended for sale must have prices, in plain figures, atfixed thereto. 10. No Customs' duties are chargeable on articles sent to the Exhibition, or returned from thence under, the care of the Committee ; but in case such duties shall become chargeable on account of the sale of such articles, or otherwise such charges must be paid by the exhibitor. 11. As it is proposed to hold a local exhibition of the articles intended to be. sent to the Exhibition, intending exhibitors are requested to send the articles they propose to exhibit, without delay, to the Secretay's oillce, Government Buildings. Cffopptrtc JEpiuiy. c 'I^HE time is rapidly approaching when the -*- Electric Telegraph will be extended throughout New Zealand, affording vastly increased facilities for communication between the various cities and towns of the colony. The position which Campbelltown (Bluff Harbor) occupies as the first port of arrival and last of departure for the steamers carrying Her Majesty's English and Australian Mails, as well as its growing importance as a port of call for s;ulin£ vessels of la-ge tonnage, an.l the fact that it is the southern terminus of the New Zealand Telegraph System, and of the Railways already initiated in Southlan 1, which eventually will traTerse the whole of the Mi Idle Island, has in.luced us to stablish at this point a GENERAL TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY. The objects we have in view are threefold : — Firstly. — Receiving and transacting all Mercantile Business in which the telegrajrhic wire may be called into requisition. Secondly. — Supplying the Press throughout New Zealand with the latest English an.l Australasian Intelligence, including the state of Mirkets, Shipping, and General News from all parts of the Colonies. Thirdly. — Transacting Telegraphic Business of a miscellaneous character for the public at large. The marked success which has attended like undertakings both in Europe and the Colonies, when conducted with energy an I intelligence, an- 1 the long experience of the projectors in mercantile business, and their thorough knowledge of the duties of a Press Correspon lent, co:nbined with a determination to devote their whole attention to the Agency, emboldens them to solicit public patronage. Arrangements are already in progress for the formation of a wide-spread system of Telegraphic Agencies throughout the whole of the Australian Colonies, in connection with tho " NEW ZEALAND GENERAL TELEGRAPHIC AGENCY." The strictest secrecy, togother with promptitude and accuracy in all affairs entrusted to us, may be relied on. Business will bo commenced immediately on the completion of the Electric Telegraph between Dunedin and Campbelltown (BlulF Harbor). FITZGERALD, REYNOLDS & CO.
