September 25. — Elizabeth Curie, schooner, from Duaedin. SAILED. September 25. — William Miskin, s.s., 74 tons, Hepburn, for Dunedin. EXPECTED iSSIT.II.S. From Leith — Escape, sailed 20th April. (No-*---*t Dunedin.) „ Leith — Southland, sailed 25th June. „ Melbourne — Gothenburg, early. „ Dunedin — Alhambra, s.'., this day (27th.) „ Dunedin — City of Hobart, early. PROJECTED DEPARTURES. For Melbourne — Alhambra, s.s., this day (27th inst.) „ „ City of Hobart, early. VESSELS IN PORT. Gananoque, ship ; Arima, ship ; Sevilla, ship ; Ruby, s.f.j Defiance, schooner ; Mary Van Every, uhooner. Ths ship Arima was brought up the harbor on Friday last. A large number of the passengers landed, and are now in the depot here. We un derstand it i 3 the intention of the Government to rive them some temporary employment here, and ior this purpose we would suggest that attention should be turned to the formation and metalling of Gore-street, from the wharf to the Eagle Hotel, where the present macadamised road ends. The metal can be got on the beach, as formerly, and quite close to the street. The immigrants could not be put to work more urgently required than the formation of this street, and we believe the authorities are well aware of its present condition. If not, they require but to witness the horses b-aveiiing through the mountains of loose sand there, and farther argument will be unnecessary. TH3 schooner Elizabeth Curie, from Dunedin, is bound for the Waikava ; but, on account of the strong east wind blowing, she was not able to make the harbor, and ran for the Bluff.
