Aw Ad vebtibiko Novelty.-— The Otago Daily Times has lately adopted a system of advertising in large letters along the bottom of its columns. The effect is aB hideous as it is startling. But it has an amusing aspect too, and very queer eross — or rather, top arid bottom readings — occasionally occur. For instance, here are a few examples: — " The facts, as we have heard them, consist of the following SUNDRY MERCHANDISE." "The commissioned officers' should pass SUGAR on examination before their- commissions- are issued to them."
