DUNEDIN.
Tho Daily Times of 31st August reports ai follows : — " The attention ofthe trade was chiefly occupied to-clay with the large auction sale of sugar at Messrs. M'Landress, Hepburn and Co.'s Rooms. The attendance was large, and the whole at very fidl rates. First counters brought £36 ; bright yellon- ci-vstala, £36 ; and medium to fine whito crystals £39 to £40 15a., all in bond. The advices to hand this forenoon per City of Hobart of an advance in sugar in the Melbourne market is likely to impart additional firnmes to this market. * Flottb. — The continued upward tendency in Melbourno causes holders to remain firm in demanding an advance on the rates lately ruling, but as yet we hear of no important sales. The balance" of the Ismyr's cargo still romains unfold."
