The revenue collected at the Custom-House for the past two days, for articles cleared for home consumption, was as follows : — Yesterday, £122 18s. 3d. ; to-day, £113 3s. 9d., together £236 2s. Those auction sales which so long destroyed all chance of a healthy legitimate trade, may now be said to be at an end — the goods exposed being very generally withdrawn for lack of bidders ; and we are in hopes that our commerce may go on in a more satisfactory course. We have no arrivals to report from foreign ports during the week, and quotations generally remain without change since our last report. The flour market has undergone a further decline, although it is very difficult to quote current ratos. In a small community like ours, where the stocks are held by comparatively few firms, prices are extremely arbitrary. For example, one firm refuses to part with best Adelaide under £30, while others accept £28, and we believe this latter quotation to bo as near as possible our current price. Tasmanian, we quote at £25, in quantity ; and for cash by special purchase we believe that flour may be bought £4 or £5 per ton, less money. Dealers, however, only purchase for present use. From the firm tone of the Australian markets, it io probable that the price here may rule higher ; at all events, recent advice* will check oaiy furth«* decline for the pre•ettt.
