The Mercury of tliat date has the following market report : — " Owing to the extreme inclemency of the weather, there lias been little doing in business circles during the day. Prices continue as und er —Flour, £24 per ton ; wheat, 103. 6d. to lis. per bushel ; potatoes, £5 10s. to £6 per ton, without bags," The Launceston Examiner of the samo date says : — " Flour and grain aro again in a most unsettled state, and it is impossible to give quotations: Millers are, however, rather lower in their demands, being willing to quit at £21 to £22 wholesale. No wheat is offering, and there are no transactions to report. It will be seen from intelligence which appears elsewhere, that recent advices respecting shipments from England and America, have had the effect of considerably reducing prices in the neighboring colonies — a fact which will bo ascertained with pleasure by all to -whom a cheap loaf is an object. Oats are dull at 3s. 6d. to 3s. 9d. Potatoes have been sold at £5 ss. bags in. Bran, ls. 4d. In butter vory little is doing ; it ii quoted at about Bd."
