Peacocks Extraordinary. —A military friend informs us that, whilst residing in India,, he witnessed an extraordinary phenomenon during the mouth of December (lie did not particularly describe tlie year). In the Bengal Presidency, no less thau 10,000 peac >cks wero observed to form in line, with tails spread, and after performing several evolutions, esseutiaily of a warlike character, marched to the Governor-General's palace, killed 20 sepoys, who were on guard at the time, and afterwards made good their retreat; unmolested, carrying away an enormous amount of "loot." A lady recently crtlled upon a professional gentleman to have a corn removed from her toe. Being somewhat modest and refined, she had drawn a silk stocking over her foot to conceal it, having first cut a hole in the garment large for the protrusion of the offending excrescence. The professor contemplated tha dehcate arrangement for a moment, and then deliberately drew from his pocket and put upon his hands a pair of whito kid gloves before proceeding with his surgical labors. —New York World.
