THE NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION.

"We understand that Mr. Colenso, of Napier, is the gentleman entrusted by the Exhibition Commissioners with the writing of an essay " on the botany, geographic and economic, of the North Island of New Zealand." It appears that Mr. John Morrison, the agent of the New Zealand Government in London, is actively engaged in arranging measures by which the most efficient and serviceable aid may be rendered to the Exhibition, at home. He has, with this end, secured the services of P. L. Simmonds, ■- Esq., late DeputySuperintendent of the Colonial Department of the International Exhibition of 1862. The experience which this gentleman had in organizing and carrying out, with perfect success, the arrangements of an important department on that occasion, is a sufficient guarantee of the services which he is likely to render to the New Zealand Exhibition. Several important application have been received, amongst others from Messrs. F. Morton and Co., the iron manufacturers of Liverpool, who, besides asking for a space of 9 by 16, with headway of sixteen or seventeen feet, for the display of models, drawings, &c, of their fences, buildings, and other manufactures, also wish to know whether there is any .available ground that could be granted to them for the erection, of an iron building complete, and to exhibit fences, gates, &c. About thirty feet wide hy : 128 long is the space required for this. Drl W. D.
