* The intelligence from Auckland; as well 1 as 'thl Australian Colonies, coupled with- recent arrival! of flour, has caused that article to decline in price and there is every prospect of a downward ten den«y prevailing for some time. "•' Fpr sometime back, doubtless very much caused by the unusually fine weather wo have been experiencing, arid the consequently improved state o: the roads, the trade with the interior has' beer, more aiiimated!. To-day there was a considera ble amount of loading, but there were sufficieni drays to meet requirements. The rates fo* cartage at present are as follows : — The Lakes, £18 per ton ; Nokomai, £16 ; Switzer's, about £17 but little goods are being presently sent there, anc cartage rates can scarcely be quoted, full toads being seldom sent all tbe way. The auction sales have not improved much, anc still occur so frequently as to seriously interfere with legitimate trading. Yesterday, Mr. Macdonald held a large clearance salo of the stock oi Messrs. Dickson and Co., Dee-street. The following are a few of the prices realised : — Champagne Vineyard brandy, in bond, 95. ; Martell's, 10s. 9d. ; inferior dark, ss. 9d. ; port wine, in casks, £7 10b. ; Tennent's ale 75. ; porter, 7s. Tea, in chests, £8 55. ; half-chests, £4 7b. 6d. ; orange pekoe (in boxes), 2s. Bd. per lb. Hams, 9d. ; Bacon, lid. ; cheese (cheddar), 6sd. ; butter (Colonial), ls. ; rice, 21s. per cwt. ; jams (Colonial), 15s. 3d. ; Whybrcw's pickles, 10s. ; salad oil (pints), 65. ; currants, sd.
