Steam Navigation Company's new steamship Wellington arrived at the Bliiff, on tbe 80th ult. Bhe is the newest addition to the fine fleet of steamers now on the coast of New Zealand. We, on a former occasion, gave a full description of her on her arrival in- New Zealand. She i§ commanded by Captain Francis, formerly of the Queen steamer, a gentleman long and favorably known in the Australian trade. Thb barque Malay, reported on Thursday as at the Heads, was towed up in the forenoon. She •ailed from Newcastle on the 16th, and made the passage round Stewart's Island with indifferent weather for most of the time. Sailed in company with the barque Ellon Castle, also bound for Otago, and sighted her three days after leaving port. — Otago ADaily Times, 29th July. Thb following vessels, bound for New Zealand, -were loading afc Newcastle when the Malay sailed: — Durham, barque, and Gazelle, brig, for Lyttelton ; Meteor, barque, for Auckland ; City of Melbourne, barque, for Napier ; Al§cta, Metaris, and Sussex, barques, for Otago; Dcrwent Hunter, Armistice, aud Feronia, barques, for Wellington ; and Kate, brig, for Auckland. She brings, a cargo of coal for. the N.Z.S.N. Co., and a new boiler for thafc Company'-* s.s. Storm Bird.— lbid. V ' y The s.s. Wellington, which arrived in Port at 9.30 a.m., left Manukau at noon oh the 18th inst., with light N.E. winds and thick hazy weather. .Arrived off New Plymouth at daylight on the 19th instant, and found several vessels at anchor preparing to slip.-in consequence of the heavy surf rolling in. Stood off and returned at noon, the swell having iubsided, and landed the head-quartere of the 70 th regiment, under fUte command of Colonel Mutock, numbering 229 rank andfile, withhorscs and baggage. Started for Nelson at 5 p.m. Experienced a heavy S.E. gale, with light sea running, off Caps Egmont. Reached. Nelson at 3 p.m., 20th instant., Left Nelsen at 10 a.m. 22nd inst., reached Picton at 6 p.m same day, Tahd left at midnight ; arrived at- Wellington at 4.20 a.m; on the 23rd instant *, left Wellington at- 10 a..m., 24th instant ; sighted Banks Peninsula at 3 a.m. 25th. instant*, but owing to the dense fog was unable to make Lyttelton Harbor till late in the evening. . Left Lyttelton on the 26th instant, &t-noon.—Otago-Laily Times. The steamship Great Britain, with her acknow-, ledged ' pWctuality, arrived in' Hbbson'a Bay yesterday, her passage being- only fifty-eight days from Liverpool to Port Phillip Heads, as she arrived afc the latter place at nine p.m. on Sunday. The days' .runs throughout have , been pretty uniform. She left Liverpool pii the 27th of May, crossed the equator on the 13th of June, passed the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope on the 2nd inst, and Cape Otway on the ,24th. The number of passengers brought by her amounts to five hundred and five souls, being fifty-eight in the cabin, and four hundred and forty-seven in the second cabin and' steerage. — Age, 26th July. Newly Discovered Rook m Hawkb's Bat. We learn that in Jthe beginning of this month; Mr Murray, the Harbor blaster, discovered avery dangerous rock nearly half ti mile off the Bluff.
