SALES BY AUCTION.
Messrs. Morison, Law, and Squires sold at th» Provincial Sale Yards, on 22ud June, about 40 Head of fat cattle, at prices ranging from £11 to £15. Messrs. Carey and Grilles sold on 22nd June, the hull of the barque Star of Victoria for £11, and on the previous day, the Three Sisters for £105 , cash. Mr. H. B. Monkman sold, on 25th June, at his Auction Mart, Dee-street, an extensive assortment" of drapery and hosiery goods (more or less damaged), ex the s.s. Scotia. The. following prices were realized : — Damaged pi'.ot jackets, 18s. 6d. to 14s. each ; damaged serge undershirts, 3s. to 3s. 3d. each ; damaged cotton Crimean shirts, 3s. to 2s. 6d. each; damaged military cotton half-hose, sb; to 4s. Gd. per dozen ; damaged millers' mole trousers,. < 3s. to 2s. 6d. per pair; damaged tweed trousers,' 4s. per pair; damaged grey blankets, 12s. per ' pair ; damaged white English blankets, ; 20s. per pair; scarlet blankets, 9s. to 10s. per pair. Thereafter, a quantity of Lochfine herrings; at 21s. per half-barrel; Wick ditto, for 12a. 6d. to 14s. per ■■ ditto ; spring cart and harness for £9 10s. ■■■'• Mr. H. B. Monkuiau sold, on 25th June, a fourroomed house and part section, in (xala-street for £48. ■■• T ■ ; Messrs. Taylor and Marchant held a sale by, auction, on the 4th of July, of the stock of timber and general effects belonging to John Hamilton, Esq. The following are a few of the prices ' realised :— Five-feet palings, 11s. per 100 feetj Tasmanian timber, 10s. per 100 superficial ' feet; posts and rails, 30s. per 100; weatherboards, 4s. per 100; lime, 31si ; per cask;' Tasmanian hay, £6 ss. per ton; Do. chaff, £7 ss. \ Mauritius sugar. 3|d. per lb. ; crushed loaf, 6d.j tea, in half-chests, 555,; soap, £28 per ; ton; Tasmanian butter, 6fd. to 10£ d. per lb/ '<■'" ■"" ■ On Saturday, Messrs. Mueller and G-eisow solii by auction, in their rooms, Tay-street, the Waihopai Hotel, with about three-quarters of an acre of land attached, &c., for the sum of £460.
