QUEENSTOWN COMMERCIAL.

(From the Wakatip Mail, of 2nd July) Inconsequence of the frightful state of the roads, and to some extent through tho weather, business has been anything but brisk. Communication is now with difficulty carried on with any district. To Arthur's Point, four miles away, the

road is as had as any other portion, and packers dread it. Hie Government made it, but rio provision seems to have been made for its maintenance. Under these circumstances it- is difficult to quote prices, as a very small per centage is accepted from a good mark, nnd from really cash customers sales are sometimes effected below i Dunedin or Invercargill rates. Engagements are J fairly met, but to some extent with difficulty. The changes arc very slight, as will be seen by quotations, though carriage has again risen from InTercargill to £20 per ton. Hams and Bacon have become quite unsaleable, and with present heavy stocks are not likely to improve. Kerosene has slightly giren way, and prices in quantity may be quoted 7s. 3d. to Bs. Butter is almost unsaleable, and ranges over a wide list. From lld. to ls. 6d. Potatoes are very firm at 3£d., with an upward tendency. Onts are scarce, and rising in valuo. Last sales lis. Gd. As in overy other place hags arc not obtainable except at fancy prices. Cigars of Swiss and Manilla fabric are not in the market. Aromatic tobacco is sold at Melbourne prices. Tea 9 incline upward. The flour market fluctuates between £60 and £65, and next advices of the result of the Adelaide speculators are looked forward to with interest.
