LONDON PROFLIGACY— A TRAP FOR THE UNWARY.

A clergyman writes to the Times as follows : — A lady in whose welfare I am interested, attracted by an advertisement in your columns, offering the comforts of a home in a capacity of housekeeper and compaiuon in the establishment of a Christian gentleman, /together with its j relative advantages, to a person whose testimonials should be found to be satisfactory, called at the house in Holloway where the address was given and particulars were to be sought. Ou presenting herself at the door, which was opened by a female of very questionable appearance, she was shown into a parlor, when an elderly, woman, of sinister aspect and unpleasing manners received her in a way that proved unmistakeably tho character of the place. My poor friend was soon informed that testimonials were not required by the " gentleman " whom she was seeking in the matter, if only her 'personal' appearance . should prove acceptable to his washes. I need hardly saythat the lady turned away filled with ineffable horror and disgust. This is no new trap, but. I confess that it is the first time, so far as I know, that a Christian home "has been' paraded for such base purposes and foul ends, and attempted to be made subservient to the worst species of ,an infamous profligacy.
