DUNEDIN COMMERCIAL.
The market for spirits shows a slight decline in caso whisky, under the pressure of new- supplies. Brandy maintains its value, from a good demand for exportation, and a fair enquiry from the local trade. The late advance in tho prico of breadstuffs has been well supported during the month, and a further improvement in prices has now to bo noticed. The demand throughout lias however been restricted to actual requirements. Adelaide brands are quoted afc £36 ; Tasmanian, £31 ; Provincial, £29. The whole tendency of the flour market is towards a steady and continuous improvement. Buyers aro holding back for the expected sale by auction of about 200 tons (some portion much damaged) , which has been recovered from the Scotia, and brought to Dunedin. Ale aito Porter. — (In bulk, duty paid Gd. gal). Tho late arrivals of new brew have been bufc slowly placed. Bass' No. 3, £8 ss. ; other brands, £8. Taylor and Walker's stout enquired for at £7 for bottling purposes. Bottled Beers. — (Duty, Is. per gal.) — Favorite brands. Bass' porter, Allsopp's and Tennant's alo, have met ready sale at lis. to lis. 3d. per dozen. Bapok. — No great quantity offering, prices remain at ls. 2£d. for Sinclair's middles to Is. 3d. for bellies. Sugar.— (ln bond, duty, Id. per lb.)— Tliis staple has also been seriously depressed, through tho low prices accepted at a recent sale ofthe cargo of tho Fawn. At jnvsent no business is doing, and the following quotations are merely nominal : — lst white crystals, £-i 3 ; 2nd do., £41; first counter, £3S ; 2nd do., £35. Tea (Duty, 4d. lb.) of good qualities, which aro scarce, begin to command attenoion. Good black cougou is worth Is. lOd. per lb. in bond. Wixes axd Spirits. — (Duty. 10s. perproofgal.) — Hennessy's pale brandy, in bulk, 10s. Gd. ; dark, 10s.; geneva, JDKZ low duty, 125.; whisky, in bnlk: Campbellton, 2s. 9d. ; Kirkliston, 35.; case ditto, 7s. Gd. ; rum, 33 0.p., 4s. per gali. in bond. — Daily News.
