ITALY.

The preparations for war, announced as actively going on in Venotia, have excited the liveliest attention at Turin, the journals of which city are earnestly urging the Government to arm at once, and stand ready to repel a probable all ack upon Austria. A sum of money seized by order of the Turin tribunal at Lemmi's. and alleged to be the proceeds of a subscription towards a fund for au association objected to by the Government, has been restored to Garibaldi's bankers, it haviug been proved Ihat tho money in question had no connection with the aforesaid fund. The accounts- received from Rome respecting the health of the Pope, arc still contradictory and disquieting. That he is in a precarious state is not donbted. At least, the French Government thinks so, and thinks it necessary to prepare for tho worst. Instructions have beeu transmitted to the French Ambassador to concert with the general commanding the army of occupation, as to the precautions to he adopted in case of the death of the Holy Father. It is believed in Paris that that event would be tho signal of a rising in Rome, or at least of an attempt to create a disturbance ; and both the ambassador ancl general are enjoiued to maintain, at all hazard, the tranquillity of tho city while the Conclave are shoosing tho successor of Pius IX.
