(From the Weekly XewsJ. The excitement which has attended the operations in the Hour market h;,s in some degree subsided. It is owing to two onuses, firstly the news received by way of Sydney, of the promising state of the Californian crops, and Heeondly, the arrival of fresh supplies from Adelaide and Tasmania. Tho principal vendor of (lour in this city quotos fine flour at £30 per ton, and seconds at £20. Other (quotations which wo have received are, for Adelaide" flour, £25) 10a. to £30, and for Launceston £28 to £28 10d., and sales (of Launceston) have been ma-dc during the week at that.. Bran may be quoted at Is. HHd., and maize at 6s. 3d. per bushel. The discharge of English vessels h;w placed plenty of goods upon the market, and with few exceptions tho demand for all kinds, is abundantly supplied. Wine and spirits are overstocked except rum, which, 30 over-proof, fetches 4a. 6d. per gallon. In tobaccos Barrett's twist is sold for ss. yd. ; cigars are in groat demand, and Ormond's Swiss have been sold for 80s. per 1,000. There are heavy stocks of sugar on hand, and Patna rico is sold for £22, The Mills — Wholesale: Fine flour (silk dressed), per ton, £30; seconds, £26 ; sharps, £15. Wheat. per bushel. Adelaide, 12s. Od. Bran, 2s. 3d. Retail.— Fine flour, per lOOlbs.. 325.: seconds, 285.; sharps, 17s. Bran, per bushel, 2s. od. Building Materials. — Timber: Boards and scantling, per 100 feet, 205.; boards, tongued and grooved, 23?. to 2f>s. ; sliingles, per 1,000, £1 2s. •, palings, per 100, Ifis. Posts and rails, per 100, £-1. 10s. Bricks, per 1,000, £4- 45., delivered. Lime, per bushel, Is. 4d. to la. 6d. Messrs. Mabin and Graham held a ealo of damaged (Adelaide) flour, at their stores on Wednesday. A small quantity was sold at £7 10s., and the remainder from £2(5 to £20 per ton. Messrs. Hidings' and Dowden quitted a large quantity of goods on Wednesday, fit tho Auckland Bazaar," at very good prices. Messrs. Jones and Go. sold on Thursday -.—Apples at 3Ad. per lb. ; Sydney cheese, from lOd. to lid. A quantity of fruit trees were disposed of at remarkably good prices. Messrs. Ridings and Dowden held a sale of fruit on Thursday, and quitted apples from 2-J-d. to 3d. per lb.; oranges from a Is. 9d to 2s. kl. per dozen.; pears, 4d. per lb. Mr Samuel Cochrauc sold on Thursday : — Oranges, from Is. 3d. to Is. 4d. per dozen; and pears, from \\d. to 2d. per lb. Mr. George Sibbin sold, on Thursday: Apples, from 3jd- per lb. ; pears, 3id. per lb. ; oranges, Is. Sd. to 2s. per tlo/.en ; jams, lOd. per lb.; New Zealand potatoes, £7 ss. per ton; cheese, lO^-d. per lb. ; butter, from Is. 2d. per lb. Messrs. Mabin and Graham's sale of groceries, wines, &c, on Thursday, was very well attended, and tho quotations wero good. Several cases of bottled stout were also disposed of af. 10s 9d. to 11s.
