Trade is umisnally dull, and business is being conducted on the most limited scale, sufficient to moot the every-day requirements of the population. The auction sales -which have been so frequent of late doubtless disturb business conducted through the usual media very considerably. Tho prices realised at these sales for the past two days have been very low, goods being parted with at great sacrifices for caslu Tho up-country trado ia trifling, considerable stocks, wo are informed, having been laid in prior to the breaking of the weather. The following aro the cartage rateß at present ruling : — Lakes £15 to £16. Switzor's £17 to £18.
