Siz, — I beg you will bo kind enough to insert the following, "and final remarks, respecting the Invercargill Total Abstinenco Society, and also in reply to your correspondent's letter, in your paper of to-day", Juno llth, who signs himself " Justice." Now, Sir, I should like to know how ho can havo the conscience to ask "Abstainer" to bo more ready with his purse than his pen, when I beg to state" that he has not contributed one farthing himself towards the society, which I well know to bo a fact. If the society received no better support than from your correspondent, it woidd bo quite a hopeless effort to carry it on, or in attempting to form it again. I should like to find your correspondent, before wielding his pen (as he remarks) in making such erroneous and unseerain? observations, to come forward and contribute his share towards the society, the same as " Abstainer" has done, instead of blowing his own trumpet, and applying to tho editor of a journal to publish such rubbish. To say, rather than do, is the vice of the hypocrite. I must now say, adieu — trusting that the socioty which is about to bo formed again in this town, will be carried forward with increasing energy and success. — I am, &c, ABSTAINER Invercargill, June 13th, 1864.
