Captain M'Lean furnished us with files of English and Melbourne papers to latest dates. Cobb and Co.'s agent, on the arrival of the English mail, put the coach on for the conveyance of the smne, at 4 a.m. this morning, to enable the mail to be delivered by the time the post office orenedThe steamer City of Duuedia returned -from Oamaru yesterday afternoon, having on hoard iJll bales wool fir shipment in the Abnukir. She arrived at Oamaru at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, discharged ahout sixty tons cargo, and took on board -136 bales wool, left at 2.30 a.m. yesterday ; arrived at Waikouaiti at 6 a.m., shipped 10S bales af. tho latter port,- and arrived a-, above. Captain Boyd reports having- experienced fine weather on the coast. Brings ei^ht cabin and fivo steerage passengers. — Daily Telegraj/h, 19th inst. The regular trading steamer Susannah Booth, from Sydney, arrived at the anchorage on Wednesday evening, Stronjj westerly winds were experienced for the first three days, and-fresh variable southerly breezes remainder of the passage. Proceeds to town, as usual, to discharge. Captain ' Ciulow has furnished us with papers to the date of j his departure, 6th inst. — Ibid. > The s,s. Wm. Miskin is at present on the slip j for repairs, but owing to some unforeseen occurrence in connection with the slip, the repairs cannot be effected in time* She is to be removed to the hard beach, and floated up with casks, so that- the- injury may be got at and put to rights. — Ibid. A satisfactory trial trip has been made by the Wellington, a screw, built and engdned by Messrs. Blackwood and Gordon, of Port Glasgow, for the New Zealand Steam Navigation Company (Limited). The steamer, which has acoomflaodation for 100 passengers, is of the following dimensions:. — Length of keel and forerake 182 feet, breadth of beam 2i feet 6 inche3. depth of hold li feet, burthen 527 tons. She is fitted with horsj?stails_ and every requisite for the New Zealand trade, and is propelled by a pair of direct-acting inverted condensing engines of 80-horse power. The diameter of the cylinders is 34 inches, and the length cf stroke 27 inches. Her consumption of coal when the full power of the engines is exerted is about 10 cwts'. per hour. In running the -distance between the Clock and Gumbrae lights, the Wellington had tbe tide against her, but she averaged, nevertheless, an-nniform speed of . 12.615---knots, or 14.53*3 miles per hour. — JBCome News,
