COMMERCIAL INTELIGENCE.
TASMANIAN COMMERCI \L. (From the AELohart Town Advertiser, February 2.) The news by the City of Launceston has, as we expected jc would, caused some excitement in the wheat and flour market, and during* the day several lots of the latter article have changed hands afc an advance upon previous Quotations; but as prices can hardly yet be said to have settled down, it is bettoi* perhaps that th-" figure obtained should not just y*-t appear publicly, Wheat is still in demand, but by lots constantly arriving from Launceston the market is kept partially supplied. 3N T o sales hare been reported beyond 6s 3d per bushel., and it is only a prime sample that will cotnir.and that figure. With oats there hns been a little doing at 5s 3d, but the quantities changing hands have not been large. Barley remains as last reported. Hay (loosn) still sells' at £4 103 to £5, country pressed, £6 to £6 "10s- Potatoes are verv scarce., and in demand at from £8 to £9 per ton*j aud sales have actually taken placo at an advanco beyond these quotations, but they were only small lots offered. Butter and bacon are in moderate request at same prices "(From the ALaimceston AExaminer , Feb. 2.) "We have no alteration to report in tbe stale of the flour and -wheat market. We learn from the advices to -band per City of Launceston that at Melbourne any further a-lvance had been stayed for the time, though no downward movement was reported. Consequent upon the rise which so suddenly took place, stocks here were cle.u-ed out. Of wheat there is now little or none to be obtained, and ordprs for a quantity of flour could not be carried out. Mii'er'a quotations will bs found below. In bran a slight advance has ' occurred, and sales have taken place atl-*4jd. Hay remains at trom L3 to L4 t'or trussed.
