Chjsap Beef. — Beef must be pretty cheap at Bathurst according to the following extract from the Free Press, : — In the early part of Thursday one establishment made it public that really excellent would be sold at one penny per lb., or ss. per cwt. A little later in the day it was announcod by a rival establishment that 14 lb of prime beef could be had for a shilling, and 112 lbs for four sliillings. Towards evening a third one startled us with the news that 28 lbs of first-rate beef would be given to customers for a shilling ; and, when night setin further notice was spread that not 28 lbs but' 30 lbs of the best beef ever' seen in .Bathurst would be vended to all callers for one shilling.
