October, 1863 IMMIGItATION: rr^HE Government of Southland liaving X issued instructions to the Home Agents to lay onvessels from Great Britain, direct for the Bluff, with immigrants, the attention of parties interested in the Province is directed to -the -following Section of Instructions to Immigration Agents— namely, " Persons residing in the Province of Southland, desirous of assisting their friends to immigrate to the Province, may obtain for them assisted passages hither, by pre-payjng one-third of the passage money, and accepting a Bill for the remaining two-thirds, drawn by the Provincial Treasurer, and endorsed by a substantial householder, residing in the Province, and approved of by the Superintendent as sufficient security for the same. " In the event of parties not availing themselves of such assisted passages within twelve months, their certificates may be cancelled, and the prepaid amount returned to the Applicants." Passages at the rate of £15 10s per statute adult, of which one-third (£5 3s -td) to be prepaid.
