In consequence of our Dunedin correspondent's letter not coming to hand yesterday, by tne Gothenburg, we -have: togive the following .extracts of Otago news from the Daily Times cf the Bth instant: — An inquest was held yesterday afc the Cafe de Paris on "the body -of John Thompson,; formerly mate of the, schooner Yatra, Avhose: body was found on Sand; y morning close to the Old Je ty. The deceased was seen by some of his acquaintances pn Saturday evening at half-past nine orclock, Avlien he was perfectly sober. It is supposed that in stepping from the Jetty to the Pioneer schooner, to which his boat AA*as made fast, deceased j missed bis footing and fell into the -water.
