Miscellaneous. PROVINCE 'OF SOUTHLAND £2500 REWARD. FOR THE DISCOVERY OF A PAYABLE GOLDFIELD. Fifteen hundred pounds (£1500) of which will bo guaranteed by the Southland Prospecting Association, and one thousand pounds (£1000) by the Southland Government, in accord«neo with a notice in tho Government Gazette — to the following effect, viz., " That a Reward of £1000 will be paid to any party who shall discover a Payable Goldfield within twelve months from the date heroof, conditionally on the discoverer or discoverers giving satisfactory proof to the Government that 16,00Uozs of gold, the hona fide produce of that particular Field, being within the Province of Southland shall have been realised and brought to Invereargill within 12 months from the date of the discovery, and duly reported to His Honor the Superintendent." The Southland Prospecting Association will pay their subsidy of £1500, in virtue of the following resolution passed at a Public Meeting at Invereargill, November 11th, 1803, viz. — "That the said Reward of €1500 will be paid to such person or persons who may be declared entitled to th 0 Government Reward of £1000. Intending Prospectors are al c o notified of the following resolution passed at the same Meeting, viz. — " That in the event of a payable GoUUield being discovered in the Otngo Province, and such Goldfield being shown to be to the advantage of Southland, that the Commiitee shall have power to give a proporticrate reward to the discoverer, and such Money to bo raised as the Committee may deem most advisable By order of the Committee of the South laud Prospecting Association. RULES AXD REGULATIONS. 1. No entry will be received for any of the races except upon" this condition — that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the rucinjj, shall be decided by the Stewards, or a majority of them, whose decisions upon all points connected with the carrying out of the above programme shall bo final. 2. No person will bo allowed to enter or run a hor.-o unless the latter be qualified as tho bo na fide property of a subscriber of three boys to the Iluce Fund, except hack races. 3. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Stewards, entrance money enclosed, with the name, age, and pedigree of the horse, name of the owner, and colors of the riders. No jockey allowed to ride except in the colors entered. 4. Entries must be made at the Union Hotel, Tay street, on the evening of Wednesday, 9th February, at S o'clock. 5.
