Next to arrive was the Oineo, from .Melbourne, with 71 horses, the greater portion of which we sold at tolerably fair rc.tes ; Mr Trethowan's 10 came to the hammer <<n Saturday, the 21st instant, and were easily disposed of at an average of L4O per head. Great care had been evinced in the selection of these horses, being in every way suitable to the requirements of tiiis market. Air Lakeland's were sold ou the same day at an average of Ll3 per head. Messrs Strachanand Imrie's lot of 10 per same vessel were cleared at prices that we fear will not be very remunerative to them. Oa the 2ind instant the Onrust came to hand ; the whoJe of the horses she brought, 131 in number, were placed in our hands for sule. Only a few of these horses have as yet been put up for sale. Mr Williams'?, and part of Mr I>erhatn's'\vere sold on the 2oth inst. On Saturday wo shall offer for sale Mr George Henry's lot of 1 1-, and judging from tho stamp we are ot opinion they will meet with a good market. O.i. Monday next the second draught of Mr Durham's lot will corns to the hatniner ; the remainder, per Onrust, are sent out to paddock, the sale of which will bo duly advertised. We cannot mark any material change in the trade, either as to price or demand, but we would again respectfully caution shippers to be very careful in tl c selection of stock tor this market. Let them eschew entirely all weedy description of horsea, as shippers of this stock must at all times meet witti disappointment. As we have so oh en repeated, useful packers and well-bre I hackneys will at all times command attention. Tue prices current are as -follows : — First-class draught horses, L(!o to LSS ; second do, L 45 to L 65 ; inferior, L'2~> to L 4 5; powerful well-bred hacks, L3O to Loo; light harness and packers, L2B to L4O ; inferior, Ll2 to L2O.
