RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Monday, 30th November. (Before M. Price, Esq., K.M.) Drunkards. — Three person's names figured on the list for drunkenness; two preferred forfeiting their bail to incurring the exposure before the Court, while the third was fined ss. The Freaks of a New Arrival,. — A man named James Clenzay who, it was stated, had only recently arrived by the Robert Henderson, was charged with assaulting the police in the execution of their duty. Thu prisoner, had been, it appeared, annoying some ladies in the street, and on the constable endeavoring to arrest him he violently assaulted him. The Bench sentenced him to a fortnights imprisonment with h-ard labor. Careless Draymen. — John M'Lenn, summoned for furiously driving 1 his horse and dray through the streets was lined 20s and costs. Daniel Fliail, for net having sufficient control over his horse and dray, by driving without proper reins, was also fined 20s and costs. Insanity. — J. C. Jones, who had been remanded on the charge of being concerned in the late case of sticking up near tiwitzer's — having been charged on his own accusation — was again brought befoie the Bench. Mr Commissioner Weldon applied for a further remand in order that the prisoner, who had since his arrest exhibited symptoms of insanity, might be medically examined. lie was remanded accordingly.
