THE BULLER.

(From the Nelson Examiner.) There is nothing of importance stirring here. You will, of course, have heard of the two men at the Lyell who found the large" nugget The ownership was disputed, and will, I presume, ere this have Jieensettied-*by your Resident Magistrate. The two parties certainly had a good show of the precious metal by way of nuggets. I have, myself, been to the Lyell, and, having arrived on -a Sunday, I had an excellent -opportunity for making-inquiries about the diggers. They were all working at their claims, even with the -wretched weather we have had, and all managed to get that which induces them to abide by their claims, until the elements will permit them to work them properly. There is a barge manukaflat at the head of the Lyell, and in a gully leading from it the large nugget was obtained by Saint Dizier and his mate, i think our diggers, with fair weather, have good prospects. Several old diggers and some of the road men are out prospecting the several creeks, but with what success I have been unable yet to learn. Several parties have arrived overland at the Lyell from Nelson, by the Mangles, and one party has come in from the Matakitaki, who brought nice gold with them which they had obtained while prospecting the latter river. So soon as they had arrived they obtained provisions and again started. They say they could come from there in a short day; if so, what could they do if the track were cut ? lam sure it would not be expensive to cut it, seeing that men can corns from there in a day, a distance of fourteen miles up the Buller from the Lyell.
