About 4| miles from town, the road turns to the left, and from thence to Winton Bush flB miles) the dray track should be kept, then the Survey line to the River Oreti ("12 miles); from thence follow the dray-track to the Elbow Accommodation House. By this route, 30 miles are saved, and if the Oreti is high the East Bank can be kept all the way. There is an accommodation hoztse at Wallacetown, 7 miles from Invercargill ; another at the Lime Hills, 25 miles; another at the Elbow, 54 miles;' another at Rogers, 74 miles ; and another at the foot of th c Lako 92 miles.
