(To the Editor of the Invercargill Times.) Sir—There is one thing the speculators of Invercargill have overlooked, which would be a sure investment, ami pay well. I mean Coal. Nearly half o r population would use it, and more particularly in the hotels and restaurants that are now so numerous, it would be preferred to wood, were the supply equal to the demand. lam certain, from experience, that coal would be cheaper than wood. I consume more fuel than any two hotels in town, and during the last four weeks I have used coal. I calculate on having saved 30s. per week, besides having better fires. With the steamboats a good trade might also be done, as I believe the captains or owners are often glad to give any price for good burning coal. That there is plenty of such in the province, I firmly believe, nnl hope some energetic party will set about prospecting in earnest for fh • " black diamonds," and win the reward of £500 offered bj Government. I am, &c, A Consumer of Coal; . «
