Captain Mackie reports liavitg experienced moderate N.N.W. to N,E. winds until making the hind, when a heavy g>i]e set in from the N.W, with a heavy sea. The Gothenburg arrived at New River at 11 a.m. on the 28th, making tne run in four and-a-quiirter days. The Aldinga was sighted in Bass' Straits on the morning of the 24th, and the barque ludia, for Tasmania with stock, outside the New River Heads. The Gothenburgh brings GO p>issengers and 75 tons of cargo. T.« Gotluuburg will notcall into the New River on her return from Dunedin, hut may be expected at Bluft' Harbor about the 6th. hue will leave Melbourne about the 13th October, and arrive here about the 18th, sailing for Dunedin on the i 19th, which port she will leave for Canterbury on i the 21st. After the 21st her probable days of ' sailing will be :— Prom Canterbury, about the 25th, Dunedin, 27th, Invercargill, tor Melbourne, 30th. The s.s. Willinm Miskin, Captain Wilson, arrived yestcrdny at 1 p.m. Captain Wilson reports Laving left Port Cualmers at 3 p.m. on Monday, thus making the run to I nvercargill in twenty-two hours, during the first part of the passage he experienced light NE winds, and during the latter, a strong SW breeze prevailed. She brmgs a full cargo, and eighteen passengers. Tuc Miskin leaves for Dunedin to-day, at 2 p - m. The s.s. Tiionio, Captain Jarvey, left Port Chalmers at 7 p.m. on Monday evening, and arrived here at 4 p.m. yesterday. Captain Jarvey reports ight KW winds to the Brothers, and thence strong head winds; and also having sighted a squared-rigged vessel, standing from Stewart's Island for Aew River. The Titania brings seven cabin, and seventeen steerage pnssengers. The s. s. Ruby went alongside the Gothenburg on her arrival on Monday, and brought up yesterday the passengers, about seventy, and the cargo for this port — some seventy -five tons. She discharged the whole cargo last night, and proceeds with this morning's tide to the Bluff to bring up the passengers from the Helenslee. The rapidity with which this steamer is usually discharged, is found oi considerable service in the lighterage trade. The fns-orite barqua India arrived yesterday, after making a passage from Launceston here in seven days, during which time she encountered severe and heavy southerly gales, but at the same time, liac brought the whole of her horses nnd cattle in first-rate condition, for which, the ship and her commander deserve great praise. We understand, every berth in the India was full iv both cabin ami steerage. Captain Young also brings a choice selection of fowls, pigs, &c. The passengers - all speak very highly of the captain and ship. The barque India, Captain Toung, arrived yesterday, from Tasmania. The Launceston Examiner of the 19tb, speaking of her departure 1 flays,— The barque India, commanded by Captain j W. Young, will be towed to sea this afternoon, and the colonists of Southland, New Zealand, will receive a valuable consignment of heavy cart stock, principally fillies from three to four years old, by this vessel. They have heen selected from the Northern side by Mr Bicbayd Symmons, who proceeds in her as a passenger. There are also a number of working bullocks and milch cows on board; shipped by Mr R. M. -Ayre, of Quamby. It is to bo hoped the ship may have a fine passage down. There are 23 horses and 25 head of horned cattle on board. The remainder of her cargo consists of oats, butter, bacon, and timber. As this is a favorite vessel lor stock, she will.no doubt land them in good condition, as she always has done, laving made eleven trips from Hobart Town to New Zealand in twelve months with the loss of two head only. This vessel may be expected back to this port in about a month for another cargo, which is now being got in readiness for her.
