DR HOCHSTETTER'S MAPS OF NEW ZEALAND.

(From tbe Daily Southern Cross.) _ <^^^H We have been favored by Dr Fft^^^J with the sight of six maps of New Zeal^^^H geological and geographical, princi pall^^^H Auckland, received by bim from Dr H l^^^! stetter, per last niaill. That embrji^^^H tbe district of Auckland is vrry mins^^^J and beautifully executed, and thete.W^^^H appear to be not a single important ofthe coun'ry that is not faithfull^^^^H neated. The position of every pa t^^^^H th* Waikato country is shown, and^^^H that has been incorrect in previous fl^^^H has beep rectified by Dr- Hochstettcr'f^^^B observations. The geologica l map course, be valuable for scientific piUT^^^H but what could be .more vs *j^^^H at the present time than the I^^^H graphical one, giving, as it does,^^^^H the greatest precision, the position of l^^^H native settlement, river, fnonntain t -^^^H road, in the country. We are glad *f^^^H that Dr Fischer intends to forwaral^^H map at once ty General Camernn,^^^^H will doubtless appreciate its value. Affij^^^^J the small maps there is one of showing the gold deposits, another l^^^H country aboVe Auckland, a third <^^^^H isthmus of Auckland., and a fuurt^^^^H general map of New Zealaud.
