TASMANIAN COMMERCIAL.
lAtnrcESTos. (From the Chronicle, August 29.) As millers here h.ive large stocks of wheat on bond, and Ihero nro no orders to purchas ; on commission, there is no demand for the article at present, C>s per hushcll being the highest price obtainable. The dcimind for outs bus rnthcr declined, the price ranges from /»s to ~>a 3d i'ov good feed. Flour is? firm at from "Lll 10s to Ll2 per ton. On account of the difficulty of removing hay to market in such inelemout weather, the article has become scarce, and the price has advanced to from ho 10s to L 6 per ton according to quality. For some articles there is an improved demand, caused by the large number of vessels in port. A few parcels of ilour have changed hands for shipment to Lyttelton, and they will leave at once. Potatoes are being bought up for Sydney and New Zealand markets, and timber is moving off slowly. ThereJs a moderate enquiry for pressed hay, and also for loo^e, for local use. The latter articlo is scarce. Quotations are as follows — Wheat, oa to os -id per bushel, in fair demand ; oats, 5s to fis (Sd ; English barley, 6s to Os 6d per bushel ; Cupe, 4s to 4s 3d ; bran, ls to Is -id per bushel; flour, Ll2 to Ll3 per ton ; pollard, L 7 per ton; country pressed hay, Lo 10 .. to LG ; hydraulic pressed, LO to L 0 10 ; loose, LstoL 5 10 ; potatoes L 5 to Lo 5s (bags in) ; onions, L2O to L 22; but toils 6d per lb ; bacon, lOd to lid per lb. In the import market there is little to notice. The Abbotsford, from London, is coming-- up the river with a full cargo, nnd tho Heather Bell will be shortly due from the same port. The cargo of tho Mary Anne, from Newcastle, consisting of coals, maize, and beef, was offered for sale at auction to-day. The market io glutted with coals, and yet cargoes arc continually coming in. We should imagine that the profit to the importer must be very slight. The maize camo to a fair market, but the provision market being overstocked, prices for beef clo not range high.
