A Hakstt Sentence and a sad Episode. — A lad about fourteen or fifteen, named Brown, left Poole some lime since, and mace for Portsmouth, where he joined the Royal Navy. After having been in the service some time he obtained permission to return to Poole to visit his patents and friends. While in the town befell into evil company, and stayed beyond the allotted time ; he was afraid of returning to the ship at Portsmouth — consequently he deserted. In due time his name and description appeared in the Hue aud Cry, and shortly after he was captured and taken to his ship, when he was sentenced to fifteen years' continual service without ever going onshore.
