It is said the Rev Mr AUwood, Incumbent of St James', Sydney, is to succeed the Right Rev Dr Nixon, as Bishop of Tasmania. This will be the first instance of a member of the Colonial Clergy in the Australian Group, being promoted to the Episcopate. Complaints are being made as to the levelling of Dee-streefc. We understand that some buildings will, upon the completion of the street, have to be entered by ladders. The Post Office establishment in Sydney does not seem to be conducted on exactly aneconomical basis. The Morning Herald says that its expenditure exceeds its income by £25,000, exclusive of the £20,000 per annum paid as the share of tho Ocean Mail subsidy.
