TOWN BOARD.

A general meeting of the Town Board took place within the office, Tay-street, on Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock p.m. Present —Messrs Clarke rChairman), Hay, Giller, Lockhart, Garthwaite, the Engineer and the Clerk. • . ' The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. • RESIGNATIONS. # ( The Chairman read letters of resignation of membership of theTownßoan 5 , fromMessr.-. Blacklocfc, T. M. Clarke, and Lang. FUNI CREEK AND BIGGAR-STREET. ' - A letter was read from Mr P. L. Francis, | calling attention to that part of the town between Puni Creek and Biggar-street, and stating that by . not draining this quarter people were driven to the North Road, to the injury of the writer and others. It was moved by Mr Giller and^ carried that the matter should be taken into consideration. APPLICATIONS TO HIS HONOR THE j SUPERINTENDENT. ,JjjjL It was moved by Mr. Giller, seconded flj Mr. Lockhart, and ; carried, that the Clerk apply to the Superintendent for plans of the own. It was moved by Mr. Giller, seconded by Mr. M'Lvor, and carried, that the Clerk apply to the Superintendent with a view to the diversion of Puni Creek. » DITCH IN TAY STREET. A letter was read from Mr. Keith complaining of this ditch, and requesting improvement, j On the motion of Mr. Giller the matter was j referred to the Engineer, that he might at | next meeting report on same. ASSESSOIIS. It was moved by Mr Giller, seconded by Mr Bevan and carried, that two Assessors should be advertised for, to tender for making the assessment for the year 1868-4. | LIGHTING OF TAY STREET. On the motion of Mr Giller it was resolved that the inhabitants of Tay-street be assessed for the lighting of said street, and that the rate be fixed at next meeting. solicitor's appointment and salary. It was moved by Mr Giller that a Solicitor to the Board be engaged at a salary of L2OO per annum, for services to be rendered during the ensuing year. Mr M'lvor seconded. Mr Garthwaite moved as an amendment, that the sum be LIOO. The amendment was carried. ACCOUNTS. On the motion of Mr Giller, seconded by Mr Lockhart, the accounts against the board were ordered to be paid. bte-laws. It was moved by Mr. Garthwaite and carried, that the following committee be appointed to frame bye-laws: — Messrs. Claike, Beaven, Giller, and Garthwaite.
