Rose; 5 do books, Stewart. The R. M. s.s. Gothenburg left Port Chalmers on Saturday evening, the sth inst. at 5 p.m. und arrived off Xevr River Hpnds at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. She experienced heavy gales from the S. W. during the whole of the passage. The pilot found it inexpedient to bring her into the river on account of the state of the tide ; so she proceeded to the Bluff, and will anchor in the New j River this morning. Captain Macki • reports his up passage to Dunedin as made in 12 hours from tie New River. > The s.s. Ruby is at Dunedin loaded nnd shortly to sail for this port (Invercargill). Snould inducement offer, she will be placed in the lighterage trade.
