TOWN BOARD.
THE -NOMINATION, On Saturday 'Jast^at twelve o'clock noon, within the >school>hous(?, Tay-street, the nomination of candidates to serve in the Town Board as.- members, -topic place in accordance with a notification which, appeared in the Provincial Government Gruzette. Mr Mitchell," the .returning officer, having explained the purposes of the meeting, the following gentlemen were nominated : — Mr D Mitchell, proposed by M-i" Garthwaite, seconded by Mr-Hargin; Mr G M. The Returning Officer having called for a show of hands, the following was the result: — NrD Mitchell, 12; Mr J Hay, 10; Mr Goodwill, 10; Mr G MK Clarke. 9; Mr Garthwaite, 9; Mr Mueller, S; Mr Geisow, 8; Mr Beaven, 8; Mr M'lvor, 7 ; Mr T M Clerke, 7; Mr Grieve, 7; Mr W. Robertson, 7 ; Mr Coutts, 7; Mr J Lang, 7; Mr W Lockhart, 7; Mill Murdoch, 4: Mr H A Giller. 4; Mr John Blacklock, 4 ; Mr Cameron, 2 ; Mr Monkman, 1; Mr W Lind, 2 ; Mi- H MfCulloch, 2. A poll was demanded, and the Returning Officer appointed the same to take place within the Town Board office on Monday, the 31st hist. from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. THE EJECTION Took place at a quarter past four o'clock yesterday, in the presence of a nurab.T of electors, when the returning officer announced the following state of the poll : — Messrs G M K Clarke 24, S Beaven 23, Jabez Hay 22, \V Lockhart 20, H A Giller 20, K M'lvor IS, W Girtliwaite 17, T M Clerke 17, John Blacklock 17, James Lang 13, G Mueller, 12, F H Geisow 12, YV Robertson 12, A M Cameron 10, James Grieve S, Robert Murdoch 7, Lind 6. Messrs Mueller, Geisow, and Robertson having the same number of votes the meeting whs of opinion that the returning oflL-er should shake in the hat for the three. This was done, and then Messrs Clarke, Beaven. Hay, Lockhart, Giller. M'lvor. Garthwaite, TM Clerk- , Blacklock, Lang, Mueller, aud Robertson were declared duly elected. Immediately after the declaration, Mr Geisow arrived, and stated that Mr Mueller did not wish to stand. The Returning Officer said that Mr Mueller had sent in no intimation to that effect, and that it was then (4.30 p m.) too late. He must send in a notice to the Clerk, as his (the Returning Officer's.) duty was over. He supposed tlfere would have to be a new election. Cheers were then given for the Returning Officer, and for the members eleclcd, and the meeting dispersed.
