A PROCLAMATION.

DECLARING CERTAIN ARTICLES CONTRABAND OF AVAR. (From Neio Zealand Government Gazette.) By His Excellency Sir George Grey, K.C.B. Whereas by the " Arms Act, 3 BM," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette from time to time to declare what articles shall be considered as warlike stores for the purposes of the said Act, and also for the same purposes of an Ordinance of the Lieutenant-Governor and Legislative CouncU of New Zealand passed jn the sixth session of the said Council, ■intituled '• An Ordinance to empower the Governor to regulate the importation and sale of Arms, Gunpowder, and other warlike stores." ' Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and exercise' of the said power and authority, do hereby proclaim and declare that the under-mentioned articles shall(amongst others) be considered as warlike stores for thej purposes above-mentioned, that is to say : — Firearms of every description. Accoutrements for such arms . Gunpowder of every description in carfr* ride or otherwise Percussion caps. Flints Load, Zinc, and Copper, manufactured, or otherwise Shot, Ball, Bullets, Marbles ! Saltpetre

Bayonets, Pikes. Hayforks. Scythes, . Swords, Tomahawks, Adzes, and, all other edged tools of whatever description soever, capable of being used as weapens. Iron of all kinds capable of being converted into weapons Given- under i my hand at the Government House at Auckland, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, this . twenty-ninth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty. ; three.
