The latter thanked them very warmly for the proof of their sympathy, hut at the same time expressed his regret at only being able to receive two o£ the party, the stale of his health still requiring repose. Since ISSO, .150 steamers have touched at the island of Caprera, where lonnerly no vessel ever stopped, and more than 16,000 persons have landed. Four Neapolitan vessels bear the name of Garibaldi. The General is godfather to 4500 children, and 2000 hoys have received his names. Pining the last three years he hiw received presents of the value of lo.OOOf. The majority of diem are agricultural implement, chiefly from England. During the same period he has refused other gifts representing a -value of nearly one million. Garibaldi is honorary burgess of 90 cities and towns, and lfonorar.y; president of 120 associations. He has 21 swords of honor, of which ll.hrtye'lveen sent from abroad. Since' 1859, 3000 addresses of devoteduets have been sent to him. In conseqerence of the improv'ementrjntroducedimo the cultivation of the land which he possesses it Caprera, his annual revenue from it now amounts to 3000 f. Originally it was almost nothing.
