COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.
" iNVEKCARGILL TIMES " OFFICE, Thursday Evening.
There has been no especial variation in business during the past week, beyond the advent of a few buyers from Switzer's, and some consequent sales of assorted goods. The pertinacity with which shippers from the Australian side continue to send in merchandise — vide the imports per Drtnube and Pilot — is prejudicial alike to themselves and to consignees in Jnvcrcargill. The market at present is so supplied as to be amply sufficient for the demand, even taking for granted that tbo much looked forward to spring "turns up trumps." vv 0 are informed by one firm that they have at present in their warehouse n quantity of flour more than four times greater than that which, six months ago, was in the whole of Invercargill. Shippers on the other side cannot be too much cautioned against continuing to flood this market. Trade with the Lake is not very brisk at present. Local quotaions are merely nominal.
