(From the Daily Times.) The following memorial, adopted by the Irainage Committee at the Airow, has been anded to His Honor the Superintendent, irough It. Beatham, Esq., Warden of theDieict: — 0 His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Oiago. The Memorial of the miners and other resieut of the Arrow Township, humbly sheweth— 1. That a great extent of auriferous ground 1 the adjoining Flat is not available for workg in consequence of the water from the Bush reek percolating the gravelly soil and lying in le bed of the flat at such a level as to render itural drainage out of the question, and necestate the employment of either water or steam >wer. 2. That your memorialists have every reason, pported by the authority of experienced and impetent persons, to think that large deposits gold exist on the bottom in the Flat. 3. That the miners holding claims on the lat have not the means of effecting its drainage id are in many instances in great distress, hereby the prosperity of the township and disict is seriously affected. 4. That a public meeting was called by general quest on the 20th instant, to take into nsideration what could be done to remedy the atter, when the following resolutions were opted : — (1,) That this meeting regTets deeply the ate of the mining interests in the immediate sigborbood of the township, and pledges itself take measures to remedy the same. (2.) That a committee be appointed to confer the best plan for draining the Flat, by the yle and title of the Drainage Committee, and at they be authorised to employ an engine, if icessary, and to publish their report when mplete (3.) That a subscription list be opened for the irpose of carrying out the objects of this meetg, such list to fee entrusted to the Drainage >mmittee. (4.) That on the subscriptions gauranteed Qounting to a sum to justify the step, the rainage Committe be authorised to memoriae the Government for a subsidy, accerding to c precedents of Weatherstone's and Waitain a. (5.) That the Drainage Committee consist of c following :— The Chairman, Mr Haughton ; essrs. Melody, Hildrup, Richmond, Cochrone arshall, Gordon, Fox, Douglas, Menderhausen ith power to add to their number, five to form quorum. (6.) That the expense of the drainage is estiated at ahout LI2OO, of which L 560 is already mranteed. "Your memorialists therefore pray that your Honor will be pleased to grant a subsidy to enable this important work to be carried on without delay, thus giving employment to a large number of miners, and greatly assisting the development of the resources of the district.
