SHORTEST AND MOST DIRECT ROUTE TO THE LAKE DIGGINGS. FOR THE INFOIiAIATION OF NIiVV ARRIVALS The nearest route for pedestrians going to the Lake, is the North Road. About 4^ miles from town, the road turns to the left, and from thence to Winton Ziws/i (18 mites J the dray track should be kept, then the Survey line to the River Oreti (12 miles); from the7ice follow the dray -track to the Elbow Accommodation House. By this route, 30 miles are saved, and if the Oreti is High the East Bank can be kept all the way. There is an accommodation house at Wallacetown, 7 miles from Invcrcargill ; another at the Lime Hills, 25 miles; another at the Elbow, 54 miles; another at Rogers, 74 miles; a?id another at the foot of the Lake 92 miles.
