<From tha Aye, July 21 ) The gradual improvement perceptible in the import market previous to the arrival of the English mail, has been completely lost since its delivery. Tho past week having emphatically been a quiet one, almost every dessription of goods have been unduly depressed, aud tho very few articles of which tho shipments apprised are at all light, have been so influenced by the gemnl stagnation, as in the meantime to be deprived of the benefit generally conferred by a circumstance so desirable The downward tendency in bulk ales has not yet been staved ; larger quantities, however, have been quitted than formerly. Bottled stout has not unproved. Candles have declined £d per lb. Flour and wheat have attracted a good deal of notice, at improving rates. Speculative purchases have been made in blasting powder. Butter is firmer. Hums and bacon have suffered another reduction. Rice has given way, and there is no desire to invest manifested by the trade. A good business has been done in teas, at improved prices. Tobacco continues to be looked ea as a favorite article, Wines and spirits are heavy, a slight redaction on thu hitter having been conceded. Tim British and foreign arrivals comprise two vessels from London, one from Bremen, one from Sweden, one tnnu China, one from New York, and tho mail steamer.
