TOWN BOARD.
An adjourned meeting of the Town Board was held yesterday afternoon at 3 p.m. Present, Messrs M' Arthur, Hay, Garthwaite, M'lvor, the Engineer and the Clerk, — Mr M'Arthur in the Chair. The Clerk read the minutes of the last meetinc, which were approved: MR KUItGOYNE'S CONTRACT FOR GRATINGS. The Clerk said he had communicated to the contractor the resolutions adopted at last meetin" as to extension of time, &c. He then read a letter fromMrßurgoyne agreeing to the Board's resolutions. SaUATTING. A letter was read from Mr Colin M'Donald complaining that a wooden chimney had been erected on section 15 Block 71, by some parties squatting there, and that he had in consequence not been able to insure his property, and that as the ground was municipal he would thank the Board to remove the grievance The Clerk, was instructed to give the squatter 24 hours notice to quit. CANON STREET. A letter was read from Mr Clarke tendering to complete this street for the sum of £39. As no motion was made, this matter was postponed for future consideration. COMPOSITION FOOTPATHS. A letter was rend from Messrs Lockhart applying for permission to lay a permanent composition feotpath in front of their premises in Tay-street. ACCOUNTS. v arious accounts were laid before the Board and passed. messes cajipbell's contract. The Engineer read a correspondence between himself and the contractors, in which the latter stated that they could not go on with the Taystre>t contract in the existing weather. Till the receipt of a further communication from the contractors, the matter was postponed.
