By this route, 30 miles are saved, and if the Oreti is high the East Bank can be kept all the way. There is an accommodation house at Wallacetown, 7 miles from Invercargill ; another at the Lime Hills, 25 miles; another at the Elbow, 54 miles; another at Rogers, 74 miles ; and another at tho Joot of the Lake 92 miles.
